May 2026

Clients, loved ones, peers and strangers on the internet alike! Welcome to the very first edition of the Half Full Counseling and Art Therapy Newsletter!

This space will largely be used as a way for our team (and some incredible guest authors) can provide additional support and resources that can be used in between sessions or simply some ideas to reflect on. In addition to the great line up of blog topics we have prepared; please tell your therapist if there is a topic you would like to learn more about! It can range from coping skills or ways to improve sleep hygiene to hearing the lived experiences of therapists and client testimonials. Watch this space for more!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and has been recognized nationally since 1949. as to attempt to highlight the journey to mental wellness, identify and provide support to those experiencing mental health conditions and to reduce stigma surrounding mental health needs. The National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) is using their platform this month to encourage community building to reduce isolation and continued stigma.

There are many ways to become connected with community, including but not limited to finding a local NAMI chapter near you. You can participate in their annual NAMIWalks or simply volunteer at a local office. If you are looking for services, NAMI chapters can help with recovery support groups, seminars and groups for loved ones supporting someone living with mental health conditions and hands on advocacy trainings for people navigating mental health services.. Many of these groups are virtual and offer lots of invaluable support outside of weekly therapy sessions.

Take care of yourself and other in May and every other month!
